Close-ups to show detail. And that, my friends, is how I play!
Here’s what I call the “tadaah” part. I remove the tape & see the actual finished piece.
Here’s how the bird transfer looks when done. See how nicely he fits into the overall piece?
And next for some collage papers. I looked for some in my stash that had circles & a little contrast with the paint. I ran across this bird while “auditioning” papers, & knew it needed this home. The bird is a transfer, so it’s upside-down. The music just seemed right, & the color worked, so it went on too. This process is very much intuitive.
Here are the paints I used. Yes, those are just craft paints. The ones in front are the glazes. These particular ones have a luminescence about them.
Next step: 2 coats of Polymer.
Step7: more stencils and more colors, some on top of earlier colors & patterns. Just playing around here; I can always cover up something I don’t like later.
More to follow….
Step 3: I collected a bunch of stencils that had roundish shapes.
Step 4: Using a charcoal pencil, I defined the basic shape—cross.
Step 5: Using both light & dark colors, I stenciled in various areas. I also blocked off some areas, color-wise, to lend some continuity to the stencil colors.
More to come!
